Pataniscas are made from pieces of shredded salt cod fried in wheat flour, seasoned with salt, pepper and parsley. They have an irregularly flattened or spherical shape. They hail from the Extremadura around Lisbon.
They are often accompanied by red bean rice or tomato rice, or in a sandwich.
