Every year in May, during the Academic Week, students from colleges all over the country get to celebrate the end of their first year as freshmans and transit to the second. Today Portugal celebrates the 44th anniversary of its Carnation Revolution, a peaceful coup secretly organized by the military to take over the regime. It ended the almost four decades dictatorship under Salazar's rule withe the support of the majority of the population, that joined soldiers in the capitals' streets.
