Francesinha - Portuguese for Kick-Ass Sandwich
May 30, 2015
Francesinha is more than just a sandwich and hails from Porto. It is a mix of bread, ham, linguiça, and covered with melted cheese and a hot thick tomato and beer sauce. It is served with fries.
Francesinha sauce varies from eatery to eatery. The common ingredients are beer and tomato.
The Francesinha is said to come from the French croque-monsieur (hence the name). Try one!
