New 5-star hotel at the Algarve International Speedway
September 03, 2015
The new hotel at the Algarve International Speedway in Portimão will open in the coming months under the management of the Portuguese Pestana Group, who has teamed up with the speedway owner Parkalgar SA for this project.
Pestana Group manager Pedro Lopes said that the hotel will open with 75 rooms, but has the potential to boast a total of 198. It will also feature meeting rooms, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a spa, and common areas. According to Paulo Pinheiro, Parkalgar’s CEO, this hotel comes with a total investment of 10 million euro (around 11 million USD): “The hotel is one of the stones that were missing to complete this entire Race Course compound» he added.
The speedway’s location is a competitive advantage for this new hotel. In the past, guests attending the speedway’s events would have to stay in Vilamoura or Quinta do Lago. Pedro Lopes also believes that this new hotel will help the speedway host more events year round, since it will offer a large expo space big enough to display up to five cars.
This 5-star hotel will join the 170 4-star appartment complex (also managed by Pestana), a go kart track, and the main attraction; the speedway.
