Portugal had a good day at the World Travel Awards Europe ceremony with 14 awards and 77 nominations in the 'Oscars' of European tourism.

Turismo de Portugal was  'Europe's Leading Tourist Board.’ The regions of the Algarve was voted Europe's Leading Beach Destination 2015.'

There were big winers in the Algarve, too. The Conrad Algarve  took title of Europe's Leading Luxury Resort & Spa. And the Quinta do Lago won as Europe's Leading Beach Resort Hotel. VilaJoya was Europe's Leading Boutique Hotel. Europe's Most Romantic Resort was the MonteSanto Resort.

In the Lisbon area, Myriadby SANA Hotels won Europe's Leading Business Hotel. Corinthia Hotel Lisbon was Europe's Leading Green Hotel, while the BairroAlto Hotel was Europe's Leading Landmark Hotel.

And, on Madeira, Choupana Hills Resort & Spa won as Europe's Leading Boutique Resort, and The Vine Hotel took home Europe's Leading Design Hotel.

Once again, TAP Portugal had a large number of nominations in six categories, and won in 'Europe's Leading Airline to Africa 2015' as well as 'Europe's Leading Airline to South America in 2015,' and 'Europe's Leading Inflight Magazine."

Beyond the Europe awards, Portugal also won 2 awards in the Mediterranean category:

- Mediterranean's Leading Hotel:                     HotelQuinta do Lago 
- Mediterranean's Leading Boutique Hotel       Quintada Casa Branca 

World Travel Awards Gala Ceremonies are a highlight in Europe’s travel and tourism industry, attended by government and industry leaders, celebrities, and international print and broadcast media.
