Each holiday season, holiday lights and spiritbrighten every Portuguese town and city. Christmas markets offer concerts andfamily activities. These local markets have unique local crafts, foods, andwines.

At Portuguese Christmas Markets you can findtraditional clothing such as wool capes, leather boots, shoes and bags made ofcork. All at a good price, too. And, you can find local wines, olive oils, preserves, candy, jam and dried fruit. Seasonal sweets are tempting, such asbolo rei, filhós and rabanadas. Or try fresh roasted chestnuts, a seasonal delicacy.

During the month of December, the medieval town ofObidos is filled with light, color and fantasy. With the Santa’s house, entertainment, games, ice rinks, and other fun for the whole family, ittransforms into a Christmas Village.

In Lisbon, you can get a dose of Christmas Spirit fromexploring all of the different holiday activities such as concerts andChristmas markets in historic neighborhoods.

You can’t leave Portugal with out visiting the bigChristmas Market in Praça da Liberdade in Porto or see the living nativityscene or experience the Christmas market in Viseu where the goods are sold in traditionalwooden huts.
