The ship one of them  was lost
in the indefinite sea.
The second asked leave to the King
in the faith and the law
of Discovery to go in search
of their Brother in endless sea and  dark fog.

Time passed. Neither first nor second
Returned from the deep 
the dark sea to the country that they had given everything for
the enigma they had become.
Then the third to the King pleaded
Permission to seek them, and the king refused.

As a captive, they hear him pass
the servants of the manor.
And when they see him, it is the figure
of fever and bitterness,
with fixed shallow eyes 
staring at the blue forbidden distance.

Lord, two brothers of our name
- The Power and  Renown -
both of them went to the sea of ages
to your eternity;
and with them we went
what makes the soul a hero.

We want to go search for them,  from this vile
our servile prison:
It is the search for who we are, in the distance
from us; and in fever,
To God we lift our hands.

But God does not give us permission to depart.
