It is not called GOLDomar...but it could. With the motto: “Gondomar is Gold,” the city - just minutes away from Porto - is known as the "Capital of Jewelers." Among the goldsmiths, the top of the crown in the region is the traditional Northern Portuguese filigree. The production is an artisanal process, carried out for small-scale workshops, and using techniques that have been passed from generation to generation.

It is now possible to get the inside scoop with the new “Rota da Filigrana” (Filigree Route). In this tour, you’ll learn about all the stages and secrets behind the goldsmith craftsmanship of filigree and also be able to purchase directly some of the unique items.

The visit to the workshops is free but requires advance booking. The tour lasts 45 minutes and it is complemented with a chisel workshop and a visit to the interactive Tourism Shop in Gondomar, where the exhibition “Filigree Alchemy” is offered.
