Portugal took home some 24 Oscars in European categories of tourism, the most ever, and the night's biggest winner.
Turismo de Portugal was elected for the third consecutive year to be theEurope's Leading Tourist Board.
And Portuguese regions were also winner with the Algarve to be elected the best European beach destination, Madeira to be the best island and Lisbon the best cruise destination and best port.
TAP was also honored as the best airline to fly to Africa and South America on as well as having the best in-flight magazine.
Another 13 awards went to Portuguese hotels.
The award of the 22nd annual World Travel Awards held on September 4, in Sardinia, Italy.
Created in 1993, the World Travel recognize work done in the field of tourism globally, in order to stimulate competitiveness and quality. The selection of nominees is held worldwide by thousands of industry professionals, who each year choose their favorites.
