May 16, 2017
Azores Airlines will offer new direct service this summer from Providence to Porto, Portugal. The new service will be offered weekly, on Fridays, between June 2 and September 29, 2017. The widebody Airbus aircraft will fly direct to Porto with a stop in the Azores in Ponta Delgada. The airline will also offer more non-stop flights to the Azores from Providence, as well as connecting service to Lisbon, Madeira, Cape Verde and Barcelona.
This new flights will double the number of seasonal flights from Green Airport offered by Azores Airlines in 2017.
The city Porto sits near the mouth of the Douro River, close to the Atlantic and has medieval walls and a cathedral, a classical riverfront, as well as modern venues. Porto is hilly, with many buildings built off a cliff face perched on the river. Across the river from Porto, in the city of Gaia, are warehouses of Port wine companies such as Calem, Fonseca, Sandman’s and Kopek.
Azores Airlines, part of the SATA Group, has connected New England with the Azores and mainland Portugal for more than 35 years. For more information about booking flights visit http://www.azoresairlines.pt or call 800-762-9995.
