Portugal also won the title of Europe's Best Golf Destination 2017, after winning the same award in 2016, 2015 and 2014 , and in the Word Travel Awards for Europe in 2013 the title of Europe's Leading Golf Destination.

World Golf Awards serves to celebrate and reward excellence in golf tourism, world class courses and golf destinations through their annual awards program. World Golf Awards™ is part of World Travel Awards.

Portugal is one of the few places you can play golf any day of the year in Europe. For that reason, the southwestern European nation has become the place to play in Europe. With new 5-star luxury resorts to award-winning golf courses, Portugal has hundreds of courses, many in the sunny Algarve, where golf is a way of life.

There are four things that make Portugal one of the World’s Best Destination. First, Portugal’s proximity to the US, with the Azores in between. Traveling to the Azores from Boston, MA takes just a little over 4 hours. Second, Portugal has mild climate year-round, with temperatures between 54°F - 74°F. Third, the country is famous for its numerous award-winning golf courses and resorts; and last but not least, Portugal holds leading international golfing tournaments and events.

Lisbon is Europe’s new “capital of cool.”  Portugal is a country of contrasts also boasts some of the most unspoiled natural vistas, the richest traditions, the most intoxicating culture, the most adrenaline-pumping adventures and the most serene retreats in all of Europe. It is a destination of timeless appeal – as inviting, complex and enjoyable as a glass of Port wine.
