Sabugal may just have Portugal's best goat cheese
January 23, 2018
"Quinta da Cabreira" cheese, produced by Lactibar Dairy of Sabugal, was voted the "Best Goat Cheese" by the National Association of Industrialists of Dairy Products (ANIL). Not a surprise, it is a great cheese.
Sabugal has made cheeses for centuries - it is located in the central interior of Portugal, and is a lovely area of ancient traditions - like the hand made production of the excellent goat cheese.
This town overlooking the River Côa became part of Portugal in 1297.

It is famed for its Gothic castle with a pentagonal outer wall and an inner wall with five square towers.
