Fado on all nine islands of the Azores, with Zambujo
March 27, 2018
Antonio Zambujo, a well known Portuguese composer and singer, is preparing a special tour through all of the 9 islands of the Azores this May. The singer from Alentejo is one in a whole new generation of fado singers that are loving the tunes of this musical tradition that falls somewhere between the fado and cante alentejano.
Starting on São Miguel (May 02), he will be on Santa Maria (04), Faial (06), Pico (09), Sao Jorge (11), Terceira (13), Graciosa (16), Flores (18) and Corvo (20) for live shows - going solo only with the guitar.
"Pica do 7,"a song about the Lisbon most famous yellow trolleys and the way that a passenger fell in love with the "Pica" - back in the day, the person responsible for validating the tickets - is maybe one of his most famous tunes.
Well known to the Portuguese public, Zambujo, with six albums, has also been conquering its audience throughout the world. He is currently on tour in the USA, and will offer shows in cities such as New York, Seattle and Chicago.
