Condé Nast nomitated the European destinations that are perfect for a City Summer Escape this year. The travel magazine ranked the best cities to spend time under hot days, and sitting by the sea, with great light and pleasant terraces, gardens and outdoor spaces, Lisbon got first place. Not a surprise.... Malta and St. Petersburg followed.  

"Best city for: Foodies", Lisbon was also praised for the great cuisine. With top chefs like Jose Avillez and Nuno Mendes, and international cooks of the likes of Jamie Oliver opening restaurants in the city, the Portuguese capital is the ideal place for foodies. Starting with Pastéis de Belém, the article mentions the Time Out Market (an historic market that is now a gourmet food court surrounded by top eateries with a common eating area) as things not to miss.

The modern Lx Factory, at Alcantara, or Alfama's traditional restaurants are some of the places on a foodies' list. 

Lisbon is the perfect place to be in summer and throughout the year, since it is a city with a vast cultural offering, great historic sights and an artsy perspective.
