Lisbon, Portugal Named Best Leisure Destination in Europe by Global Traveler Magazine

Lisbon, Portugal has been named Best Leisure Destination in Europe. By Global Traveler at its sixth annual Leisure Lifestyle Awards at a reception in Los Angeles today. Global Traveler is the only monthly magazine for business and leisure luxury travelers.

Portugal has had a slate of global recognitions recently. Earlier this year, it was named ‘Most Welcoming Country’ by InterNations’s annual Expatriate Insider Survey.

In December, Portugal was named World’s Leading Destination at the 2017 World Travel Awards, the first European country to win the title.

Travelers are also voting for Portugal with their passports and travel plans. In 2017, the country welcomed a record 20 million visitors, with 685,000 originating in the USA, a new record.
