There's a Chocolate Hotel in Alentejo
May 14, 2018
A classic mansion from 1895, the Royal Cocoa Chocolatier & Palace was once a farmhouse in Montemor-o-Novo, in the Alentejo region, not too far from Lisbon. From its classic salon to the rooms high ceilings, the building was rebuilt and restored to become a hotel, which officially opened its doors in 2015.
Offering sweet lodging with limited number of rooms, people often spend a weekend escape, a short honeymoon, a bit of a quiet rest far from the city. As a passionate traveler, the owner came to realize that the hotel's old stalls, with no horses living in them, would be suitable for a small and sweet business: chocolate!
Mixing flavors from all over the world and combining the hotel's decorative elements with chocolate themes, the chocolate factory is now the Royal Cocoa Palace. From the crust to the filling, these candies are hand made or if you will-palace made. Using fruit from the region, the visitors can join a chocolate tasting and enjoy the fresh chocolate desserts by the pool. sign me up!
