Portugal is the first country in Google’s new International Travel Advisor Group

International Travel Adviser is Google’s taskforce for identifying new world wide travel trends. Bringing to the table key world players in the tourism sector - from travel agents to hotels and airlines representatives, Portugal is now part of Google’s dream team for tourism.


The Portuguese Secretary of State for Tourism, Ana Mendes Godinho, attended the Group’s meeting for the first time - officially confirming Portugal’s integration as Member.

The only country actually assuming this role at the Advisory Group, Portugal has become a leading country not only as a travel trend destination but for the role it plays in the sector’s future.

Nominated at the World Travel Awards last year as the World’s Leading Destination, the country has been investing in sustainable tourism and public infrastructure for years. By supporting entrepreneurship and initiatives to value local resources, the investments have been rising and the results are here: last year, the country has hosted more than 20 million guests

The tourism now represents around 9% of the total GDP growth and by attracting tourists, Portugal has become an attractive destination for investors too. Along with a combination of great weather, food, landscapes and cultural heritage, Portugal helping Google map the future.
