TAP Air Portugal today announced the expansion of TSA Pre✓™ to include eligible TAP customers.

TSA Pre✓™ is an expedited screening program that allows pre-approved airline travelers to leave on their shoes, light outerwear and belt, keep their laptop in its case and their 3-1-1 compliant liquids/gels bag in a carry-on in select screening lanes. TSA Pre✓™ operations are available at TAP’s airport operations at New York’s JFK, Newark Liberty, Boston Logan, and Miami International, as well as – from June – Chicago O’Hare, San Francisco International and Washington-Dulles airports.

“TAP is excited to be able to offer expedited airport security screening to our customers now in conjunction with the Transportation Security Administration and its TSA Pre✓™ program, said Antonoaldo Neves, TAP’s Chief Executive Officer.”

Passengers who are eligible for TSA Pre✓™ include U.S. citizens who are members of a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Trusted Traveler program and Canadian citizens who are members of CBP’s NEXUS program. TSA Pre✓™ is also available for U.S. Armed Forces service members, including those serving in the U.S. Coast Guard, Reserves and National Guard. Later this year TSA will launch an application program, allowing more U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents to enroll in TSA Pre✓™.

This is cool, but unlike other airlines which ask you to enter your KTN number before you arrive to the airport e.g. when you buy the ticket or a bit later, TAP airline website doesn't not allow for any possibility to add it online. I guess you are supposed to add it when you get to the airport, what about online check-in? This is very inconvenient as it means that you always need to check in at the airport, and then you keep wondering until that time if the agent would even know how to add it. I have TSA precheck, I am flying tomorrow from Newark on TAP, and I have no clue how or when I'd be able to add KTN to my boarding pass. This is ridiculous. Can TAP provide clear instructions on how to add the KTN number?
